Dr Elaine Thomson, author of, 'The Peachgrowers’ Almanac', 'Beloved Poison', 'Dark Asylum' and more talks about how archives can inspire fiction. With a PhD in the history of medicine, Thomson spent her doctoral research studying the first generation of women doctors in Edinburgh and now lectures at Napier University. Inspired by records of crime and punishment, and drawing on her knowledge of the history of medicine, Elaine will discuss how stories of real people can help to develop and inform creative writing.
