Visit us at The Hive on Saturday, 24th November for a day of free activities to celebrate our local and national heritage by exploring the wonderful stories held in our archives. We have lots planned, including: • Free screenings of Worcestershire on Film, showcasing historic footage from the county's fascinating past • Drop-in advice sessions with our experienced Archive, Historic Environment Record, Archaeology and Conservation staff • Exhibitions and displays of original documents • Handy tips and a homework guide for parents of children researching local history • Book sale, including new and used archive, archaeology and local history stock • Bake sale hosted by the Friends of Worcestershire Archives We also have an exciting line up of speakers for our series of free talks: • 1.00-2.15pm – 'King John and Worcester: Connections and Discoveries' by Professor Nicholas Vincent • 2.15-3.00pm – 'Lich Street: Properties, People and Papers' by Dr Pat Hughes • 3.00-3.30pm - Original documents display/comfort break • 3.30-4.30pm – 'Suspended Sentences: the long and short of a century's executions at Worcester County Gaol' by Bob Blandford (aka Backenforth) The day is free to attend and all are welcome. Drop in any time between 10.30 and 1pm on Level 0 to have a look around. Booking is essential if you wish to attend our series of special talks (1.00-4.30pm).
