MK Archives are having a showcase on Saturday 24th November, 10am-3pm in the Event Space. Milton Keynes Libraries, Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies, Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre, Living Archive MK and Milton Keynes Heritage Association will have stalls showing off parts of their collections and services. Workshop “The Island of Milton Keynes” – will be held 10am-12pm, aimed at children 6-12 years old: working with artist Emma Wilde children will use collage and drawing to create their own unique maps, turning Milton Keynes into an island to be discovered and explored. Simon Peart, Conservation & Archaeology Manager, Milton Keynes Council, will be talking at 1pm about MK’s innovative New Town Heritage Register. Laura Cotton, County Archivist, will be talking at 2pm about Buckinghamshire County Council’s early 1960s plans for a new city in north Buckinghamshire - Pooleyville. There is free entry, participation in the children’s map-making workshop is £2. 10am-12pm - "The Island of Milton Keynes" children’s map-making workshop 1-1.30pm - Simon Peart, New Town Heritage Register 2-2.30pm - Laura Cotton, Discovering Pooleyville.
