The Community Archives and Heritage Group (CAHG) is a national group which aims to support and promote community archives in the UK & Ireland.
They bring together bodies and organisations concerned with community archives, and provide a forum for the regular exchange of views and information.
Conference
Since 2006, CAHG UK have organised an annual conference, and sometimes run regional conferences as well.
The 2025 conference took place on Thursday 19th June at the University of Huddersfield. The conference focused on how communities control their own histories and traditions by taking the lead on community heritage work – although some presentations also described how community groups can also fruitfully collaborate with local museums, libraries, and archives. The conference featured skills workshops and a ‘market place and hub’ – a space to showcase work – with stalls, displays, poster sessions and plenty of networking opportunities.
